Recycling and Reuse Policy

In accordance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Chapter 328 Subchapter 1: Computer Equipment Recycling Program; the  JRnR Electronics recycling policy is as follows:

As a community service, we offer computer recycling services.  If you have obsolete, unneeded, or used computer equipment that you want to dispose of, we can assist.  We will accept certain types of computer equipment for either recycling or re-use.  It is the owner’s responsibility to remove and/or recover all data contained on any hard disk unit brought to us for recycling.  Upon delivery to our location, ALL data will be removed and the hard drive(s) will be returned to its original factory configuration.

JRnR Electronics in most cases will accept computers from any manufacturer for re-use and recycling.  Delivery from your location to our recycling center will be required by the donor.  We accept computers, laptops, and servers.  Most of these products have circuit boards that may contain toxic materials, as such proper disposal of these materials is important to our environment.  We will recycle, re-use, and/or refurbish as many parts as possible.

Those products which can be refurbished will be cleaned up, all data removed, and then returned in a usable state.  Our refurbished systems will then be offered to low-income/disadvantaged areas including school districts, and organizations for distribution to individuals who lack the means to afford a computer of their own.

Consumers are not charged a fee at any time by us for recycling their used computer equipment manufactured by JRnR Electronics.  Fees are not charged for the recycling of other manufacturers branded systems and peripherals.  JRnR Electronics may provide for the collection from a consumer of any used equipment at our site.  We provide for the collection of computer equipment that is reasonably convenient and available to consumers, and designed to meet the collection needs of consumers in this state.

JRnR Electronics may sell the following brands of computers; Dell, Hewlett Packard, Acer, Toshiba, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Asus, Shuttle, and JRnR Electronics manufactured systems.

When requested JRnR Electronics will provide a receipt showing the estimated value of all equipment brought to us for recycling.  The receipt will be of an acceptable standard for use in tax filing purposes and is considered a donation.  JRnR Electronics will act as a clearing house for the recycling and reuse of obsolete, unneeded, or used computer systems and parts for refurbishing and distribution as we see fit.

Computer systems and peripherals which are not of a quality or condition to be refurbished or re-used will then be sent to a recycling center for proper disposal in accordance with TCEQ policies and guidelines.  JRnR Electronics works in conjunction with Superior Computer Recycling for the disposal of all unusable or damaged materials.  Contact information for Superior is located at the bottom of this page.

JRnR Electronics is available from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday for delivery of used computer systems and parts.  Said materials can be delivered to:

A copy of our Recycling and Reuse Policy can be found at www.jrnr.com/dir/recycle.htm.  In addition, if you are a member of a organization or low-income/disadvantaged school district and would like to be notified of available refurbished systems please download, complete and fax or email the following request form in order to be added to our notification list.  Once added, you will then be notified of what systems are currently available and when additional systems become available for distribution along with instructions on how to apply for your organization or school to be considered as a receipt of refurbished systems.

As an added note, be aware that JRnR Electronics does not profit from the systems received or disbursement of these refurbished systems.  Equipment brought to us for recycling and refurbishment is considered a donation and as such there is no charge to the consumer for intake of used computers and materials, and there is no charge to the recipient of the refurbished equipment itself.  However, in some cases there may be a nominal fee for the servicing, refurbishment, and testing of these systems.  In some cases, organizations and/or schools located in low-income or disadvantaged communities may qualify to have the servicing, refurbishment and testing fee waived.  To find out if your organization or school qualifies please contact our Recycling Liaison.  Those organizations and schools with the greatest need will be considered first for distribution of refurbished and recycled systems and peripherals.
